If so I'd like to know what cards work in the PCI slot? I suspect the only ones to work with acceleration are the ATI Rage128 and the ATI Radeon but I'd like to make sure before I spend any cash. Thing is that apart from having to remove the V5 before installing 10.0 it worked right through to 10.0.4. However, after installing 10.1 I immediately got a kp and since then the card is no longer recognised. So, I need to replace it with something cheap.

It was so much easier to find info on the 'old' TIL.

Posts: 25 (11/11/01 13:39:26) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	I was running dual monitors in 10.1, but it caused problems like dock crashes and other annoying stuff so I finally disable my second monitor/video card. I'm on a Beige G3, my main monitor is run off a PCI Radeon, and my second monitor was run off of the built-in Rage II+ graphics.

Unfortunately, no one seems to have one in stock. Maybe ATI is clearing the channel for a 'newer' PCI model as well as the AGP 8500. In any case, thanks for the offer but that's what I have. The Voodoo 5500 was recognised and provided un-accelerated 2D until I installed 10.1. That immediately resulted in a kp an since then it hasn't worked. It doesn't really matter since it just means I'll have to replace it with a 'compatible' card sooner rather than later.

Finally got my hands on a Radeon PCI and swapped out the V5. Works a treat, all accelerated. An added bonus is that the number of available resolutions and refresh rates is far higher. There appears to be only one small side effect, which is that during the start up process there is a short delay right after the 'Happy Mac' where everything freezes; almost as if the card has to be recognised on each restart.
