If I install OS X, can i still use classic OS 9.2 in it without loosing performance in applications???
Do I have to fragement (split, whatever) my HD to keep my old files? I NOW wanna try this baby...  |

well, to partition your drive (fragment) you have to reformat (erase), and then reinstal 9.2 and osx on dif partitios, then you can use both without worry.. but to partition you would lose all data unless yuo back it up..

Classic may or may not be equal in performance. It seems to depend on what applications and from what I've seen most games don't like Classic.
Partitioning will require you to erase your drive but if you go that route I'd suggest keeping a 'normal' OS 9.2.1 on one partition and then installing a minimal/base 9.2.1 and OS X on the other. That way you can keep a fully loaded OS 9 as well as having Classic available. |

I did what BettyBlue UT did, only with separate drives. So my main 9.2.1 drive (UT, audio, etc, everything I've lived with and tinkered with for years) is totally separate from my OSX/Classic drive.
Like most OSX dabblers, I've been messing with pre-releases, betas, alphas, leaked builds, etc. No way I'm letting that stuff near my production drive. Things are moving along well with X, though. I'm spending more and more time in it. Briareus |

the answers are:
yes you can use 9.2 and osx without hurting your 9.2 prefs and no you don't have to partition your drives. but it's nice if you can partition, for all the thousands of invisible files and libs that osX uses. and it's not a bad os if you like doing most things more slowly than you can do them in os9 -- and less things too, of course. enjoy!  |
