I would have liked a new thing better than that...Apple will once again get screwed because of the "so much hype for this!?" effect as it did with the iPod. Personally, I would have liked a digital photo or video camera... sounds weird huh? Anyway, live conference on QuickTime, here I come!

Getting a G4 in them was a big step in the right direction. Now, though, you can get a 800Mhz G4 iMac, but the professional model G4s are falling way behind. Intel is annoucing it's fastest chip to date later today. Next to the multiple Gig PC chips out there, 933 Mhz is starting to look pretty damn wimpy. Where's the G5 or 1Ghz G4? Huh? I want to buy a new Mac this year but won't make the plunge w/o a 1+ Ghz processor. Oh well. There is always MacWorld NY... - A disappointed Q :8:Quetzal [osX] quetzal@planetunreal.com

It is gonna sell like mad i tell you! It is a great design btw (macster poo on u! ) It is fresh and clean just like the original iMac. I was pleased to see the full size keyboard, and addition of a superdrive option!! If anything this will make the price of those delicious devices go down. iMacs are great for what they are... compact easy to use, and different. Perfect for first time buyers, and most typical users.

I'd rather have a dvd/cd-rw or sumthin'. Better gfx card would be nice too. maybe an option for a GF2 DDR or even a GF3. Also don't need a modem. The only thing I can adjust in the specs is RAM. Oh well, it's meant to be easy to use, prolly need a PowerMac, but that thing is too darn expensive

Posts: 530 (01/09/02 10:30:57) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	The superdrive in the 800MHz iMac will do everything that a DVD/CD-RW combo drive can. But if you really don't want a superdrive you could save yourself $300 and by the 700MHz combo drive model. Unfortunately the MX is the only GF2 chipset that's Mac compatible and it wouldn't make sense to include the expensive GF3, especially when it isn't standard even in the top PowerMac (for now ). I guess they could have used the Radeon 7000 though.
